Description
This dataset is compiled from the official postal code tables supplied by the South African Post Office. As registered Postal
Address Management Service Supplier (PAMSS), AfriGIS receives the latest table each month. Using this dataset together with the
AfriGIS Suburb layer it is possible to map a customer dataset based on postal code.
Key Features:
- AfriGIS Postal Code ID remains unique.
- Old Suburb and Old Town name columns are maintained (e.g. Pietersburg).
- Alternative Town and suburb names are provided (e.g. Umtata and Mthatha).
- Postal Codes are linked to a municipal suburb in the AfriGIS suburb layer.
- This dataset can be used to validate postal addresses for both street and box delivery.
- This dataset can be used to geocode postal addresses.
- The province is provided for each postal code.
