Description
This dataset includes the suburb boundaries of the metropolitan, major towns and villages in the country. The
associated postal codes for box and street delivery per suburb are also included.
Key Features:
- AfriGIS suburb boundaries are aligned with the AfriGIS Town boundaries.
- AfriGIS Suburb ID remains unique despite name changes (e.g. Pietersburg to Polokwane).
- Old Suburb names are maintained in the dataset (e.g. Pietersburg).
- Security estates are included as suburbs and the Proclaimed Town names are also listed.
- Metadata is available for each suburb boundary
- Suburb boundary updates are regularly sourced from local authorities.
- The AfriGIS town, municipality and province names for each suburb are included.
- Each polygon is classified according to the SANS 1880:2003 Edition 1.
- Suburb extensions are generally combined into one area, although some exceptions are allowed.
